OVRP Dirt
Oval Report

Cuddebackville, NY – Double points racing and a full moon set the stage for the night of
racing at the OVRP Dirt Oval. Some benefited from this and some did not. The
Junior Stock class was a perfect example of this! Craig Lutz got his first win
at the Dirt Oval and I believe his first win on dirt, while current point
leader Geoff Feola got a bad restart after a mid race caution and fell from the
front group all the way back to 10th. Corey Wood, Jeremy Todd, and
Seth Pacella were also plagued with bad luck as they got sideways off of turn 2
and smacked the wall bending rims and breaking front end components.
The Junior Rookie
class had luck in their heat as well, you decide if it was good or bad! Coming
off of turn two they stopped and seen the sprinklers turn on. As they were
stopped on the back straight, the sprinklers went right over them! Some of the
kids came off the track and were laughing about it, while a few others were not
so happy about it. The sprinkler accident did help reduce the amount of dust on
the back straight a way, but caused about a 15 minute break with about 3 races
left to go in the heats.
A couple weeks ago
the amount of yellow flags for spins in the heats and then barely any caution
flags in the feature was brought up. There was one team that felt singled out
from the incident and was very angry that night. The team did come back last
week and this week still to race. But the important part worth mentioning is
the track staff did stop by and take the time to talk to this team and work
everything out and ended the conversation with no hard feelings on either side.
Just a reminder,
Ralph Corwin is away for the month as he went out to Indianapolis for the
entire month of May for the 500. Becky is still at the track every week taking
pictures, including the victory lane pictures at the end of the night. If you
