OVRP Dirt Oval Report

Cuddebackville, NY The OVRP Dirt Oval
held their regular point show with the added attendance of the World Formula
Microstocks for this Labor Day weekend race.
Despite the holiday
and other track in the tri state holding some of their bigger money shows, the
Dirt Oval still had 80 entries for the evening and a very smooth run show. I
did not check an exact time when the racing ended, but it was around 9pm. The
track started off with its usual no grip in the first round of practice and
came around in the heats and kept getting better as the night went on. There
was no excessive dust outside of the groove to cause harm yet the track was
still dry. This made for some awesome racing that could go two wide which led
to a 0.023 margin of victory in the Junior 1 division! Lets see some
more entries show up! Many drivers missed out on a great night of racing.
End of the night fun: At the end of the
racing program, Dan, the track official from the grid finally got a chance to
get in a kart and get out on the track. I also had the opportunity to go back
out onto the track with him to have some fun. After following him, passing him,
and letting him pass me back, he picked up on the driving very quickly. In
fact, if he would have stayed out there for another 5 laps he would have been
keeping up with the Senior Stock guys! A special thank you goes out to Kevin
Morgan in the Senior Stock class for allowing Dan to try out the kart. Dan did
get the okay from John Diotte to hop in a kart next year and enter some races;
all he needs is a ride! If anyone is willing to share a ride with Dan for some
races next season let him know up at the grid!
