OVRP Dirt Oval Report 10/10/09

Cuddebackville, NY With the 2nd to last point race of the 2009 season now complete at the dirt oval, weekly racers are closely following the point standings.
The Junior Stock division has been the most competitive class of the season. Danny Hoeffner and Geoff Feola are closely battling for 1st while there is a three way battle for 3rd. With only 1 race left this season, it will come down to the feature race for these drivers to determine who will come out on top.
The track finally had a cool clear Saturday for racing with minimal chances of rain. At night it got fairly chilly and damp when the heavy dew settled making for very foggy helmet visors.
After some statements were made on the 4cycle.com karting forums in the past couple weeks about the dusty conditions, the Dirt Oval responded with better track conditions this week. The track overall had less grip until feature time, but the dust was kept down to a minimum. John Diotte designed a new way to water the track with the water truck. Instead of soaking it down with the sprayer, he made a piece that produces a heavy mist which might have taken longer to water with, but it soaked in instead of running down the track.
