The might Midgets taking the green flag at the Milwaukee mile, with Rodger Ward on the pole. I imagine this was the start of a 100 mile Midget race, something we don't get to see, anymore. Check out the full house in the stands. "Back in the Day", the midgets would have races of over 100 miles in length, with 250 & 300 mile races at the Trneton, NJ Speedway. Allen Heath won a 500 mile Midget race on the Riverside road course, out in California. Prior to him winning that race, by a few years, Allen lost a hand in a racing accident. Not too bad, I'd say - winning a 500 miler with one hand, so to say - especially on a road course and with a midget, to boot! |
