Photo 1948: One of the lesser known drivers from back in the '40's was Andy Van Heusen, pictured here at Hinchliffe Stadium, in Paterson, NJ in one of Rosco "Pappy" Hough's "Five Little Pigs". |

Another of the great ones from the late '40's and early '50's - Chet Gibbons. Chet came oh so close to winning the 100 mile midget race that was held on the mile track in Goshen, NY back on Spetmeber 21, 1947, just getting beat by Henry Renard. |

The one - the only Stan Lobitz! Every year, Mr. Lobitz throws an affair to get funds for the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, which is close to the Williams Grove Speedway, in Pennsylvania. It's held at the Lobitz Catering Hall in Hazleton, Pa. on the second Sunday in November. Things start at 9:00 AM and go to about 7:00 PM, right after a sit down dinner. Lots of bench racing, movies, a silent auction, a lot of "chop busting", which is what Stan was doing when this photo was taken, as you can see by both Ron Lauer in foreground, and Marty Himes, behind Ron, having a good laugh at someones expense. Also, some vendors selling things like books and photos, and model cars of all ages, and you never know just who might show up. Last year it was Chris Economaki. A great time, for sure, and I'm hoping theat the get ESW in on Saturday, November 7th, so we can go to the Lobits affair on November 8th. |
