Yes, even Duke Nalon drove for Caruso. |
| Believe it or not, I've only been to the Williams Grove Speedway one time. That one time was when this photo was taken of Bill Schindler in the Caruso sprinter, on October 21, 1951, for the Ted Horn Memorial race. Later on, this event was changed to the Ted Horn and Bill Schindler Memorial race. No, it isn't held anymore. On this particular day, the supercharger failed and Schindler didn't make the feature. However, as they were pushing the cars off, Buzz Barton, after being pushed off, and realizing Schindler had no ride for the feature, pulled back into his pit spot and told a member of his crew to get Schindler and put him in the car. At the time we thought this was the last point race for the year and Schindler and Tommy Hinnershitz were in a dog-fight for the championship. Jimmy Bryan ended up winning the race on this day, and it was after this race that they still had a couple of more races to be run, down in Crolina, I believe. | ![]() Biff Caruso- Bill Schindler- Williams Grove,N.J.
